BS 7671: 2018 (The IET Wiring Regulations) lays down guidelines for the testing of completed electrical installations and this module explains the details of those testing procedures.
Although we speak of the commissioning of mechanical services, we primarily speak of the testing of the electrical installation. The reason for this is that most mechanical services require setting up and tuning, but for electrical installations the objectives are: firstly to determine if they are safe, and secondly that they fulfil their functions. So basic electrical wiring is tested to check that it meets the design specification so there can be no tuning, nor adjustment to these circuits. If they pass then no further work is necessary, if they fail then remedial work is required.
The first part of the module therefore takes the used through the Part 7 Inspection and Testing of BS 7671:2018 The IET Wiring Regulations
