Launched in 2014, the WELL Building Standard is the world’s first building certification that focuses exclusively on human health and wellness. It is an international assessment method that encourages healthy lifestyles promoting 7 concepts: air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort and mind. In this presentation we will take a deeper look into the requirements for lighting and discuss the theories behind those requirements.
- Setting light levels to balance ambient and task illumination
- Circadian lighting design and the impact of melanopic light
- Electrical and Solar glare control
- How to ensure good colour quality to support visual acuity and accurate rendering of colour tones.
- Surface design – Utilising higher surface reflectance values to reduce energy consumption & contrast glare
This lecture is not only designed for the lighters from our Society, but is of great importance to those commissioning and operating buildings, architects, interior designers, cost consultants, fenestration designers as well as building services engineers.
A buffet and refreshments will be provided and the venue has good transport links and off street parking close by.
Spaces are limited and booking will be on a first come basis.
The event is free, but a £20 booking fee will be levied. The booking fee is refundable to those attending and signing the event attendance register.
Those attending will qualify for CPD accreditation.
