About the event

The meeting will debate how daylight planning guidance should be applied contextually following the recent call for density within the Housing White Paper and the March 2016 Housing SPG. Following the approaches suggested within these documents daylight and sunlight targets would change from the standard ones proposed within the BRE209.

A panel of experts will present their view. Following the presentations there will be an extended discussion period.

The panel members are:

Simone Pagani, Senior Partner Daylight and Solar Design, GIA.

John Walker, Director of Planning, City of Westminster Council.

Andrew Thompson, Director of Neighbourly Matters, Savills.

Paul Littlefair, Principal Lighting Consultant at the Building Research Establishment.

John Mardaljevic, Professor of Building Daylight Modelling, Loughborough University.
